WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT
OF AN AUTO ACCIDENT


1) Assess the medical condition of all parties involved
a. Call 9-1-1 if anyone need medical assistance
2) Keep a safe distance from traffic and roadways
a. May want to move away from vehicles
b. Take reasonable steps to warn other motorist of accident
3) Contact Law Enforcement and notify them of the accident
a. Best to leave vehicles as they are until law enforcement arrives
b. If possible take a photo of the scene
4) Exchange information with all involved parties and witnesses to accident
a. Name, current address, telephone number for driver of other vehicle
b. Insurance information of driver and vehicle owners (easy to take photo of Insurance ID card)
c. Name, current address and telephone number for passengers in other vehicle
d. Name, current address and telephone number of witness to the accident
5) Take picture of damage if possible
6) Disclose all relevant information to law enforcement

YOUR PROPERTY IS DAMAGED


1) Assess the medical condition of all parties involved
a. Call 9-1-1 is anyone has sustained a serious injury
2) Take all reasonable measures to protect the property from further damage
a. Cover holes in roof, walls, doors, windows with plastic or board 
b. Extract water if needed
c. Be careful not to risk you own safety in make these temporary repairs
d. Beware of contractors encouraging you to spend too much on temporary repairs
3) Notify Lauer Insurance Agency or your provider
a. Notify your agent as soon as reasonable possible
4) Retain all receipts associated with the loss
